Long Time

It has been so long that I couldn't remember how to get a new post started. Oh well!

Kevin has settled into a routine. He works 7 days a week. We always know when he will be online. I keep in touch with him through emails and facebook messages. We don't talk everyday but when I see that his computer is on then I know, or at least I think I know, he is okay! There is a Skype icon that turns green so I know that he is there.

He finally received the 2 boxes that I sent him on November 21. He got them on January 18. Someone had put a different zip code on them. It was changed a third time and then it was changed back to the zip that I had put on them. I was very happy that he finally got them. Now he has extra pants and plenty of thermals to wear. The thermals are the kind that you wear in very cold temps. They are almost $20. per piece. Again, we were very happy he got them! The coldest part of the year is yet to come.

He says that there is a lot of dust there. I guess the media has told us all that but he confirms it!

We had a great time with Adam while he was here. Lots of food and of course we went to see a movie! I can't remember which one but I know we went! (It was one he wanted to see!)

We bought a new Web cam to go with the new computer. The other one wasn't Windows 7 compatible. Technology still amazes me...that I can see Kevin's face on a computer when he seems to be millions of miles away!

Kevin finally got to move out of the tent and has his own room. That is not saying much because the room he moved in to did not have a door! The walls are wood and not sound proof at all. He can still hear other people's alarms going off. He and a couple of his friends built a door and installed it so he can lock it now. The room only has a clip on light and it did not have a light bulb in it. He went to the PX to buy a light bulb and they were out. Someone gave him one. He asked me to mail him light bulbs. I wasn't sure that they would make it in one piece. He also needed new boot so I put the bulbs inside the boots and they made it just fine.

They have a quiet time they have to observe. At 10PM they have to stop making noise. We usually talk to him in the morning here on Saturdays so by 10:30 am our time he has to stop. He wears earphones so no one can hear us or anything else he is listening to.

I have mailed him several boxes and they usually get there within 5 to 7 days. I always insure them now. He is reading graphic novels which are big comic books. He has ordered several from Amazon but they won't ship to the APO so he has them sent here and then I send them on to him.

The picture of him has never been all that good on Skype but yesterday Bryan said that he should move the light behind him to in front of him. When he did that we could really see him!

A couple of days ago they had an Amber Alert. That is when a rocket has hit somewhere on base or it is a drill. He found out that a rocket had hit on the other side of the base but no one was hurt. The alert came out an hour after it happened. They are supposed to go into a bunker when there is an alert.

Kevin service truck is a big Ford F350. It is a diesel and he loves it! He has to drive around the perimeter of the base. One day they were working on a generator and some kids on the other side of the fence said that they wanted candy. He told them he didn't have any so then they wanted money. He said no so they started throwing rocks at him! I guess that is about all the word they know...candy, money, and no!

Adam continues to do well. He is still living in his friends house while that friend and his wife stay with inlaws. (It's complicated!) they are thankful that he is there and the house isn't empty. He has been able to save money and pay down some of his bills.

That is about it for now. All is good here. Star is still alive and well! (She doesn't walk very well and we keep thinking about putting her down but she is our Star! Her disposition is still very good.)

I'll try not to wait so long to update this!
